Tea
For Two’s new concept album ‘101’
Germanys Tea For Two have been together since 1985. The band was
originally founded in 1985 as a duo. Tea For Two has had several lineup
changes until the classic line up of vocals; keyboards, guitar, bass and
drums saw the light of day in 1987. Their first CD was released in 1993
called Dream Or Reality. The band loves to perform live concerts and
this lead to the live album Snapshots in 1996. After 1996, Tea For Two
found themselves scattered all over Germany, which seemed to be the end
of the group. The core of the band Weber, Schumpelt & Soerup forged
on and managed to stay in touch. They exchanged music, ideas and
records.
This lead to the release of ‘101’, which is their best work to date.
This is a conceptual theme from beginning to end. The music features
songs that are alive and beautiful, a mix of well balanced atmospheric
pieces that make it more compelling to listen to. The concept of the
album is to create in music what the artist is attempting to bring you
in a musical journey. So to
truly understand this story is to listen to the music yourself rather
than attempt to give you my concise understanding of the concept itself.
My favorite track on the album is the beautiful melodic track “Between
The Lines”. Lead singer Stephan Weber teams up with guest musician
Ruth Sharp to bring you an almost commercial sounding song; that is
absolutely a gem to listen to. The albums only shortcoming is the album
only clocks in at 45:oo min long.
Fans of Grey Lady Down, Clepsydra, and Ines should like this band.
This band will continue to grow and create great music so stay in tune
and listen to Tea For Two’s ‘101’
Prog4you give this album nine out of ten Keyboards.
