Surely it’s
unusual to find three guys from Sweden that play fusion-jazz rock. With HFD we are
in front of this case. They are a trio group that performs an all instrumental
fusion music. But it’s a fusion oriented toward jazz more than toward prog. Non
Conformative is based upon a lot of improvisation, which is on the shoulders of the
guitarist, Fredrik Andersson , for the most part of the album.

He has an evident jazz mark while playing his
guitar, and I noticed a clear influence on him by John Scofield, the talented jazz
guitarist. However, their style is very original, although at the beginning I
believed HFD were similar to Brand X, but it isn’t so. Brand X sound more in a pop
way than HFD. The only thing I have to regret to this work is that it lasts thirty
three minutes. I guess it is too little for a modern release!
