: : Be : :

Okay, this is absolutely the most complex story I have ever read, heard, participated in. The bottom line is that this is a concept of what God is, how God came to “Be” how God grew up, how his creations were both mentor and teacher.

Daniel Gildenlow is a very deep person and the concept he outlines in the many pages of the liner notes are both confusing and compelling at the same time. I cannot even begin to paraphrase his point here other than to say this is a deeply moving CD that comes from the very center of this man’s heart and soul.

Now musically, like almost all of Pain of Salvation’s CD’s, you have an extremely hard time “pigeon holing” where these guys are or what style of music they play. Clearly this CD is written much like a complex and detailed piece of classical music. Layers upon layers of musical elements that at times wrap you in a wash of sonic clarity and light and at other times slap you across the face with crunchy guitars raging kick bass and soul moving vocals.

Pain of Salvation

Musically this is POS most complete and complex to date. And the quality of the playing and the players is astounding. Each song migrates the listener through Daniel’s concept that he clearly outlines in the liner notes. You are treated to an opening prologue that has the male and the female discussing “I cannot remember not being”.

You will have to just take my word for it. THIS IS A VERY HEAVY CD. Not for the casual listen or listener. If you do not have time to listen completely and at some point take the time to read the extensive liner notes then this CD just may be lost on you. This is a progressive rock CD even if you can only pick that up in parts.

If you’ve liked this band in the past then “Be” will not disappoint.
