For the Fairest is the debut album from Seattle USA based rock band Turn to Fall, a band that was formed in 2005 and has been active in the local concert circuit ever since.

Musically the band seems to be fond of playing highly melodic rock. With some nice drumming as the foundation, strong and melodic bass lines and melodic guitar patterns either in the shape of acoustic guitar or in the shape of mellow melodic riffing underscores the vocals nicely as well as providing the basic melody in the non-vocal parts; and at most times the soundscape is overlaid with some nice melodic playing from the electric guitar. The melodic playing is ever-present, and there's no lack of harmonies here.

The music is slick and smooth here, no crunching guitar riffs or screaming solo guitars; it' s all tones down to a smooth sound that is easy on the ears and the brain; placing the music somewhere between rock and hard rock in general style.

The main musical influence would seem to be Manic Street Preachers in my opinion. The strong bass lines and harmonic guitar-playing makes the music enter some Iron Maiden influenced territories at times; and some of the riff patterns evokes Rush-like associations from time to time. But the overall sound is very much in the mold of Manic Street Preachers.

The songs here are nice; songs that you'll hum along to most of the times. The really great songs have yet to be written by this band; but if melodic rock with some explorations towards complex musical soundscapes is to your liking than this release should be worth checking out.
