My
first impression was that the first singer on the scene sounded a lot
like Mischa Schleypen from Violet District. Not eye said the blind man.
In this case, the vocalist was actually Linx.
Also I was shocked to see that Henning Pauly was not listed in the
credits – as this sounds a lot like early Frameshift; though Shawn
Gordon is in there. The latter might explain Project Creation’s
stylistic makeup as well as the kind of sound effects they’ve strapped
on.
On the whole, the opener and title track is probably best. Like a good
roller coaster, it pauses not quite long enough for you to catch your
breath. The drums and sudden braking add an incredibly stimulating
dimension. That should entertain even the most daring enthusiast or
thrill-seeker.
In the vein of Pallas, “Flying Thoughts”, "Son of the Stars” and
”Growing Feelings”, are bombastically badass whereas the epic, “Voyage
of the Dragonfly”, is the recipient of a one-way ticket through the
spanking machine.
As for the rest; if you took Ayreon and Stream of Passion and lopped on
a smidgeon of Kaipa and Enya, you’d be somewhere in the vicinity of this
home-grown album.
What’s interesting to note is that this conceptually follows their
debut, The Floating World. If you haven’t already heard it, I suggest
you flip the pages backwards and then attempt to conquer these hairy
tracks.
In my opinion, they’ve done a lot right on this release and taken
certain production techniques to new heights. While Dawn on Pythers can
be pretty pretentious at times, it’s the latest and greatest from a
capable band, and it’s a progressive genesis that marks the birth of
some very innovative music.
Regardless of what elements they throw in, be sure to look for them on
the next horseshoe loop, barrel roll or hairpin turn.
8/10
