Tardigrade
Are you telling me that this is NOT Puppet Show? If so – that it’s NOT
Puppet Show; then maybe these progressive applicants have mistakenly
enrolled themselves in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program with Andre
Toulon, Jordan Weir or Phillip Masters.*
What’s great about this album is that it’s a mix of activities, and they
come in all shapes and sizes. You can go to the driving range if you
want to improve upon on the long ball, or you can simply choose to
shuffle through the miniatures.
With that said, “Brother Where You Bound” is the grand epic from tee to
hole whereas “Your Future” is nothing more than an easy obstacle behind
a windmill.
Ultimately, it’s best to give each shot its due, because the challenges
are proportional to their designated par.
And for further comparisons, you would not be far off to relate
“Strawberry Jam” to one of the decked out spreads canned by Longshot.
Once the course plays out, the best in retrospect is probably the
opener, “Suddenly the Rain”, as it packs the finest arts & crafts into
its designated timeslot. The title track is a lot of fun too.
Anyhow, if you’re a fan of Puppet Show; you’ll really like this
material. If not, it’s just a matter of their potential mentor giving
them a cue without saying – yeah you guessed it – “Simon Says!” Then
again, the wrong response to that command would be to impersonate a
statue, and I for one prefer to enable the contents on this disc.
Nevertheless, the formula works and technically; it takes more than one
to play that strange game of mimicry. Not to mention, men who play with
dolls and puppetry amongst adults is more than weird; it’s totally
perverse. Speaking of which, wait until you get a glimpse of the
two-faced cover art.
8.5/10

*All of whom are puppet masters and what’s eerily déjà vu is that I
wrote this a day before I spontaneously met with the master of puppets
himself, Charles Band, on his Full Moon Horror Road Show Tour.
