Radio Waves Goodbye
Hmmm... Very interesting cornucopia with various styles of high-energy instrumental
heavy rock (the cover version of 'Space Oddity' not withstanding). I detect strains
of Shrapnel-styled guitar-hero tuneage (not a bad thing, it actually sonically
harkens back to some fond memories of Greg Howe, Richie Kotzen, and Michael Lee
Firkins in places,
on the 4FRONT CD). Progressive rock, jazz-fusion and even a touch of country in
places, but don't get me wrong: this CD basically jam's on some heavy rock that the
instrumental connoisseurs of guitar-oriented music such as Satriani, Morse and Vai.
Great production: all the instruments (guitar, bass, drums, keyboards) are evenly
heard in the mix (which is, pardon the pun, music to my ears) and the actual tone is
quite good.
I don't really listen
to this kind of music as often as I did in my past (such as my Tony MacAlpine/Vinnie
Moore/Yngwie Malmsteen days), but it brought back fond memories, and not just a
touch of air guitar potential. A self-produced effort from this 3-piece fusion rock
band, and not at all bad for a band from NJ (just kidding, haha)... actually, I had
no idea what to expect, but I was, and still am, quite impressed with this CD.
