 Arthur Ellis :: Alphomega

Arthur Ellis is an unusual name for a band; the group takes its name from the last official publicly employed executioner in the country of Canada. With that in mind, lets talk about the new CD, Alphomega. It is not death metal or any kind of heavy sounding music, and its not progressive rock. So what is it? In my opinion, the best way to describe this music is eighties new wave music with a splash of art rock. At times it reminds me of Devo and the B-52’s. Maybe it’s the lyrics, which are very entertaining and witty. Overall, the music is very well crafted and the production and recording are average. The band is made up songwriters Peter Fisera, - keyboards, Shannon Hallett, vocals, bass - Richard Fordham, guitar - Dave Shannon and on the drums - Brad Mitchell. The CD has eight tracks of what I describe as unconventional music. The group draws it’s influences from a range of classic rock, to pop and art rock. The band has a lot of fun with their music and it comes out when you listen to the CD.
